Day ONE...
Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

The joys of employment. One day your chugging along doing your best at your role, the next your being sent to Detroit, Michigan for fourth quarter meetings. This overnight to "Motown", or "the Motor City". We tightly filled with work related tasks, but some great views, and awesome accomidations. To start off we left and headed to Bourbonnais, to get a road trip companion. Then off to Detroit!

Now to State #2...Indiana...

As we made our way across the Indiana East-West Toll Road, it was before day light. The olny stop was at the Portage Service Plaza for breakfast at Hardee's.

Now to State #3...Ohio...

EB I-80/90/Ohio Turnpike at the Ohio Welcome Sign.

We ran the tank on the car to the frist service plaza into Ohio for a fill up at a Sunoco along the Ohio Turnpike. Then it was off to Toledo. Once off the turnpike, we headed up Interstate 75 toward Detroit. Before heading north, there was a quick tour of Downtown Toledo. Not much here, a few Subways, a hotel for sale...and the home of the Mudhens.

Now to State #4...Michigan...

The Michigan Welcome Sign on NB I-75.

The day was to start off with an afternoon pep rally, and intro meetings. We must have been looking forward to all that because the travel from the Chicago Southlands to Detroit didn't take as long as expected. As we arrived into Detroit, we were treated to see several Ford Mustangs racing toward the city center. Once in Detroit, lunch was at two hot dog resturants. These were featured on the Travel Channel as being rival hot dog resturants. American had a great hot dog, but a weak bun, and chilli that was not tasty. Next door, was Lafeyette. They had a great bun, chilli with a nice spice, but a hot dog with no flavor.

A good dog, clean resturant, weak chilli, and weak bun.

After lunch it was off to the Greektown Hotel and Casino. This is were our stay for the night was, meeting for the next day were. After meetings, it was dinner in the hotels resturant. Found out home fries are actually curly fries in Detroit. When checking in we were given $10 to play in the casino. Walked out with one cent left from it. The hotel room was grand. We were given views of the GM Tower, Comerica Park, the Fox Theater, and many run down shells of what use to be and what might have been that Detroit has to offer.
