Day FIVE...
Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

As our endeavors in the Northern New England states comes to a close, we start to head down the coast. Destination for today, New York City. Said by many to be the greatest city on Earth. I for one...not one of the many. While it does have many sights, and food to enjoy, I just find it a larger, dirtier Chicago. Heading south out of Boston, our journey takes us past the state house in Rhode Island, then across U.S. 6 to collect a picture of the Connecticut State House in Hartford.

Now to State 10!!...Rhode Island...

From Hartford, we head south along I-91, to I-691, then I-84. This takes us along the rolling green hills of Western Connecticut.

Back to State 5!!...New York...

Once in New York, we dropped south on I-684 in to the Greater New York City Area. Arriving early afternoon, we circled the New York City expressways and river crossings, including the Throgs Neck Bridge, RFK Bridge, George Washington Bridge, Goethals Bridge, and Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, before heading in to Manhattan via the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel. It took us through Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Manahttan, Staten Island, and Kings Bouroughs.

Our reservations were at the Comfort Inn on 36th Street in Midtown-Manhattan. This was within walking distance of Pier 83, where we had scheduled a night time light tour, on the Hudson and East Rivers, and in to New York Harbor. The tour was about two and half hours. It sailed down the Hudson River, into New York Harbor, and up the East River to the United Nations. Then reverse. After the cruise, we walked to Times Square. With all the choices of the world to dine at...dinner was at a Mc Donald's on 42nd Street. Lucky for us, New York City hadn't eliminated 32oz soft drinks. We got one of the last ones...
