Day SEVEN...
Friday, August 10th, 2012

Plans for this day was to head back to Baltimore for a tour of Camden Yards, and to visit Edgar Allen Poe sights, all of which included outdoor walking. So we wake up to a round of showers moving through the Greater-Washington/Baltimore Area. We waited it out a bit in Washington D.C. by driving around the city, and walking arounf Union Station. Then we attempted to head toward Balitmore. Once we got past the beltway on the Baltimore Washigton Parkway, there was the same wall of traffic from last night. So a decision was made to head for Pittsburgh.

Looking at Arlington National Cemetery.

A view of the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument from Arlington National Cemetery.

Back to District 1!!...Washington D.C...

Back to State 14!!...Maryland...

Leaving the Washington D.C. area we headed up Interstate 270 to Frederick. Here we took Interstate 70 west across the mountains of Western Maryland, or the finger part. Lunch was at a Roy Rodgers in Hagerstown. Past Hagerstown, we continued along Interstate 68 in Maryland. There were several times we stopped while driving through the mountains to stretch. One was at the Green Ridge State Park, and the other was at the Casselman Bridge.

The lunch, fries and a burger.

A path leading to the scenic overlook.

Now to State 16!!...West Virginia...

The West Virginia Welcome Sign on WB I-68, at the Maryland/West Virginia State Line.

Other than to get a few pictures, there were no major stops in West Virginia. Our path took I-68 to Interstate 79, north. This took us to our hotel outside Pittsburgh, at Moon Township. Dinner was at a Primanti Brothers, in Moon. Their signature sandwich of your choice of meat, cole slaw, and fries, is great. Now a staple on any trip to the east, via Pittsburgh.

Back to State 4!!...Pennsylvania...

The Pennsylvania Welcome Sign on NB I-79, at the West Virginia/Pennsylvania State Line.

Dinner for the night.

The sandwich at Primanti's. I got a cheeseburger.
