Day EIGHT...
Monday, July 22nd, 2019

This was the last day on the road. So it was Pittsburgh, PA to Chicago, IL. On the first day we came across the Ohio Turnpike, and the Indiana East-West Toll Road. To go home it was picked to go across Central Ohio. This gave us a chance at one other state to go through. The day started off in on and off rain.

Now to State #10!!...West Virginia...

Our time in West Virginia was brief. Interstate 70 onle passes through a little over 14 miles of the state.

A mural in Wheeling, WV.

Back to State #4...Ohio!!!...

The Ohio Welcome Sign on WB I-70.

As we passed through Central Ohio, we got to see the sights that the buckeye state has to offer. At the welcome center on I-70 there was a nice display about the National Road. Interstate 70 follows this old trail corridor across Ohio. Near Zanesville, we left I-70 to start the basket trail. There are three of the worlds largest baskets in the area where Longaberger Baskets was from.

An old national marker at the rest area.

The basket in Dresden.

The worlds largest apple basket.

The former headquarters for Longaberger Baskets.

After thre basket tour it was time to make our way towards Chicago. To get back to Interstate 70, we headed towards Columbus, OH. This did give us a chance to see the state house for Ohio.

The Ohio State House.

Once on I-70 it was head west towards Indianapolis.

Back to State #2...Indiana!!!...

The Indiana Welcome Sign

Since we got on I-70 at Columbus, it was a sprint across Indiana to Interstate 65 to head north towards Chicago. It was the last sprint in a week long journey on the east coast.

Back to State #1...Illinois!!!....

With the journey complete, here are some of the newspapers that were picked up along the way....
