Day FIVE...
Friday, April 1st, 2022
The final day and final leg of this road trip has us going from Louisville to Chicago. Yet, like every other road trip, the shortest distance between two points is not how we travel. Before leaving Louisville, there were a few places to see before heading north. One of the unorthodox places in Metro-Louisville to visit was the final resting place for Cornel Sanders. Nearby is the final resting place for "The Greatest", Louisville-Native Muhammad Ali. Both men rest in the same cemetery.

After paying our respects to these men, we headed into Downtown Louisville to see a more common tourist destination, Louisville Slugger. This tour was an interesting experience, and worth the stop. The factory tour was very informative on the history, and process.

A display on the company's history.

After our tour and time at Louisville Slugger it was time to move on out of Downtown Louisville.

A look at the Louisville Visitor Center; which gives phonetic spelling of the city's name.
Back to State #2!!!...Indiana...

Heading over to the Indiana side of Metro-Louisville, we went to the Falls of Ohio State Park. Here you can walk on the rocks of the shores of the Ohio River and see fossils in the rock beds. To get there we were able to get another point in the road trip requirements checked off; "something on a stick".

Back to State #4!!!...Kentucky...

The trip back into Kentucky was short lived. It was to get to Interstate 64 and start heading west. This takes us back to Indiana.
Back to State #2!!!...Indiana...

Heading into the depths of Southern Indiana a planned stop was to go to the National Park Services site for Lincoln's Boyhood Home. This gave a glimpse into the time as Abraham Lincoln was growing up. It is also the site where his mother is buried.

Leaving Lincoln's home we went toward the town of Santa Claus, Indiana. Not much there. Other than going to an amusement park, and camping, there is not much there. So we headed down to the Ohio River, and crossed over into Kentucky one more time.

Once back in Kentucky, we looped around Owensboro, and headed towards Henderson. This would allow us to head north on U.S. 41 towards Chicago.

As the day got later, we skipped a few stops and headed north along the western edge of Indiana. This took us back towards homebase.
Back to State #1!!!...Illinois...
Now back in the Land of Lincoln, another trip comes to an end...
