Day ONE...
Saturday, September 3rd, 2022

It was time for the second annual trip to the great Upper Peninsula. This was another early morning trip on the road to head out of the Land of Lincoln and into the Land of Cheese. Thanks to the TV show Expedition X, we had a side trip to take in Wisconsin on this trip to the great north. Near Elkhorn, With Legend of the Beast of Bray Road was feature. So the voyage was on to find it, and what ever we see along the way!

The water tower in Hebron, IL.

Now to State #2...Wisconsin!!

NB WI 120 at the Wisconsin/Illinois State Line.

The Beast of Bray Road.
After finding the beast it was time to keep going northward. But this was not without a stop to see one of the most famous characters from the entire State of Wisconsin...the Fonz!!

The Fonz along the Riverwalk in Downtown Milwaukee.

This trip to the nort was planned to take a more inland route vs. last year taking a shoreline path. Even on the inland route we did come across a lighthouse. At Fond du Lac, there is one on the shores of Lake Winnebago for ship guidance. This also gave some interesting site to see.

A local spot with a Dillanger theme in Fond du Lac.

A mural in Fond du Lac.

A a lighthouse at Fond du Lac.

Back on the road heading north we came across another requirement for a roadtrip...the KFC bucket...this was found at Neenah. At Neenah there were a few historical sites, and American themed figures along there streets to stop and see. As we went by Oshkosh, the EAA Aviation Museum. A few of their displays were able to be seen from I-41/U.S. 41.

A KFC in Neenah, WI.

A statue of President Reagan.

The Statue of Liberty at Neenah.
As we headed north it was a brief stop at Green Bay for lunch, and then back on the road. Before we leave Wisconsin for what some say should be the 51st State is a roadside park for the 45th Parrallel. This would be the point where U.S. 41 is half way between the North Pole and the Equatior. One problem...this is not in the correct spot...by a long shot. The correct place in further north in Menomenee, Michigan.

The 45th Parrallel Marker along U.S. 41.
Before leaving the Land of Cheese...there was a brief pause in Marinette, WI at a display regarding the early life in the northlands.

A display of a horse pulling logs.

Now to State #3...Michigan!!!

The Michigan Welcome Sign along U.S. 41.

Once into the State of Michigan, it was a quick, or long, depending on your prospective, around Lake Michigan to the destination for the night...Manistique. This offered amazing views of the northside of Lake Michigan.
