Bloomer Line

The Bloomer Line is offically known as the Bloomer Shippers Connecting Railroad. It was created after the Illinois Central Gulf sold a portion of it's rail line from Kankakee to Bloomington. The Bloomer line ran from Herscher to Barnes. The sections from Herscher-Kempton, and Barnes-Colfax have been since taken out of service. In 1990, the Bloomer purchased a portion of the Norfolk Western, former Wabash, line running from Risk to Gibson City. It makes connections with the Toledo, Peoria, & Western railroad at Chatsworth, and the Canadian National, and Norfolk Southern at Gibson City.
