railroad > Burlington Northern
The Burlington Northern Railroad was a collection of former railroads that we merged together in the 1970's. It was formed from the Great Northern Railway, Northern Pacific Railroad, Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad, and the Spokane, Portland, and Seattle Railway. In November, 1981 it aquired the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway. By December of 1996 the railroad had merged with the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad to form the BNSF Railway.
