Keokuk Junction

The Keokuk Junction railroad runs from Keokuk, Iowa to Peoria, Illinois. It started as a terminal railroad on rails that dated back to 1857. They were part of the Keokuk & Des Monies Valley Railroad. In 1981, the railroad started when it purchased the Keokuk Union Depot and the yard around it from the bankrupt Rock Island Railroad. In 1986, they purchase track from the Toledo, Peoria, & Western railroad, then owned by the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe. By 2005, the Keokuk Junction had acquired tracks from Keokuk, Iowa, to Peoria, Illinois.
