South Shore Line
The South Shore Line is a electric commuter line operated by the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District. This runs from the Millennium Station, in Downtown Chicago, IL, to South Bend Regional Airport, in South Bend, IN. Rail traffic along the line dates back to 1901 with the Chicago and Indiana Air Line Railroad. The current route is comprised of several railroads over the years. It is one of the last inter -urban lines in the United States. Street trackage still exists in Michigan City, IN.
