The Village of Allerton is located near the Champaign/Vermilion County Line. It is named after Samuel Allerton. He was a landowner in the area, that lived in Chicago. When the Chicago & Eastern Illinois railroad came in the area he gave right-away across his property. Later a grain elevator was set-up, followed by the town of Allerton.
