The city of Chicago Ridge gets it's name from the dirt that was taken out of the ares for the Columbia Expostion in 1893 by the Wabash Railroad. In October, 1914 the city was incorporated. The Wabash, St. Louis, & Pacific Railroad came through in 1882. This brought an increase in residents to the area. The first post office opened in 1900, with the Wabash Railroad putting a station in 1902.
