The Village of Glendale Heights is located between Glen Ellyn and Bloomingdale. That is how the city got it's name. It was originally named Cloverdale. In the 1950's the name was changed to Glendale. When a conflict with anothern southern Illinois town named the same, Glendale in Du Page County was changed to Glendale Heights in March, 1960.
