The Village of Hecker is located in Northeaster Monroe County. The Monroe/St. Clair County Line is just north of the towns tree line. In the middle of town is the intersection of Illinois 156, and Illinois 159. The Village of Hecker, was originally named Freedom. It dates back to the 1840. Hecker is a P.O. box only post office.
