The Village of Hoopeston is a village located on Illinois 1, Illinois 9, and the railroad operated by the CSX and UP railroads. Hoopestons was laid out by the railroads. It was the jucntion of the Lafayette, Bloomington, and Western, and the Chicago, Danville, and Vincennes Railroad. Greer College opened in 1890. S. S. Mc Call started the Illinois Canning Company.
