The Village of Hume is located in Northeast Edgar County. It is along U.S. 36, and the CSX railroad. In 1873, the town was plotted out along the Indiana and Illinois Airline Railroad, later Indianapolis, Decatur, & Springfield railway, later Baltimore & Ohio, now CSX. A second railroad came through town in 1881, Danville, Olney, & Ohio RIver Railroad.
