Info on Jerseyville:

TheCity of Jerseyville is the county seat of Jersey County. It is also the largerst city in Jersey County. The town is served by U.S. 67, Illinois 16, Illinois 109, and the Kansas City Southern Railroad. By the early to mid 1800's the first stagecoach house, tavern, and bank in the area started arriving. Around 1834 a meeting was called to give the settlement a name so a post office could be set up. The town grew with the arrival of the Alton & Chicago Railroad.
