The Village of Lemont is located in one of the tips in Southwestern Cook County. Parts of this are also located in Du Page and Will Counties. Lemont is located along the Des Plaines River, I&M Canal, and the Chicago Ship & Sanitary Canal. The village is located on the site of a planned I&M Canal town of Athens, which was never built. Lemont was fetured in the move "Save the Last Dance". Several of the opening parts of the movie was filmed at the high school.
