The Village of Mundelein sits in the Northeastern Illionis county of Lake. This town was first known as Mechanics Grove. As the town grew and got a train station and post office the name was changed to Holcomb. The town was incorporated in February, 1909 as the town of Rockefeller. In July, 1909 the towns name was changed to Area. The name was changed to Mundelein in 1924. This was in honor of Cardinal George Mundelein of Chicago.
