The Village of Pocahontas is a small town in Northwestern Bond County. It is along Interstate 70, and U.S. 40. This was originally settled as "Hickory Grove", them "Amity". The name Pocahontas came in 1850, but spelled Pocohontas. In 1855 the spelling was changed to the current form.
