The Village of San Pirre is located on U.S. 421, and Indiana 10. San Pierre is an unicorporated town of about 156 residents (2000 census) in Starke County. This was established in 1854 as Culvertown. A post office had ben established in 1853. Some say the town is named after a saloon owner and others say it is after a French railroad worker. It was at one time a junction for the Monon and New York Central Railroad.
