Info on Topeka:

The City of Topeka was one of the Free-State towns built after the passage of the Kansas-Nebraska Bill. It was laid out in 1854 and became a city in 1857. This is the capital of the State of Kansas, and the county seat for Shawnee County. Prior to the city being established this was first a ferry crossing on the Kansas River along the Oregon Trail. Topeka is served by Interstate 70, Interstate 335, Interstate 470, Kansas Turnpike, U.S. 40, U.S. 75, Kansas 4, BNSF Railway, Union Pacific Railroad, and one Amtrak train.
