The Village of Emipire is along the western shores of the State of Michigan, on Lake Michigan. It was home to the Empire Air Force Station. This was a Cold War era radar station. Now it has been turned into a museum. Empire is also home to the visitors center for the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore.
