The Village of Spring Lake is located in Ottawa County. It was settled in 1837, as Hopkins Mill. IN 1849 it became Mill Point. The frist post office arrived in 1851. Later in 1867 it was renamed Spring Lake. This was after the depot on the Detroit, Grand Haven, and Milwaukee Railway (later part of the Grand Truck Western Railroad, and now Canadian National).
