The I&M Canal Passage runs along both the north and south sides of the canal in Grundy County. This enters from Will County on U.S. Rt. 6. At Minooka, it turns and head south along Ridge Road to Hansel Road. The passage then turns west and runs along Hansel Road.

When Hansel Road comes to Cemetery Road it runs west along it. In this strech of the passage it has the first stop in Grundy County. Here we find the Aux Sable Aqueduct and Lock #8.

The I&M Canal Passage enters the City of Morris on Cemetery Road. It runs south and runs west along Washington Street.

NB along Washington Street on the eastside of Morris.
East of downtown, the passage trail turns south along Price Street and enters the William G. Stratton State Park on the Illinois River front. This park is located between the canal and the river. The area along the eastside of the Illinois State Route 47 bridge over the river is the state park. West of the highway bridge is Riverfront City Park. After the parks it turns north on Calhoun Street to Illinois Ave. Then a quick turn west on Illinois Ave. to Nettle Street. At Nettle you head north to Fremont Ave. The passage runs west along Fremont Ave. to a four-way stop with Shabbona Street and Ottawa Street. The passage head south along Ottawa Street. Here it passes the Gebhard Woods State Park.

Ottawa Street in Morris turns into Old Stage Road. The I&M Canal Passage runs along Old Stage Road. The canal is along the southside of the road. Five miles west of Morris Old Stage Road curves ovedr the canal and runs along the southside. The bridge over the canal is named "5-Mile Bridge". This is a solid wood structure. The beams, and siding are all made of wood. It crosses the canal and the tow-path bike trail.
