The North Carolina Department of Transportation maintains roads that are not part of the states primary state road network and are not part of the U.S. Highways system. These roads are mostly rural roads that are used for local purposed and not intended for navigational needs. NCDOT does maintain a list of the roads in this network; those of which can be looked up in the Secondary Roads Database (NCDOT Website).
The numbering system used does allow for a highway number to be repeated in different counties, referring to different roads across the state. Assigned numbers do change on a road when it crosses into a new county. Secondary roads that have been covered by RMS&W are listed by county below.
