Experiencing America > Road Trip Year...2003 > The Cardinals in Milwaukee 2003 > Day 1

Day ONE...
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2003

With no time to get to Busch Memorial Stadium for the annual watching of the St. Louis Cardinal's partake in the nationals past-time, we decided to do the next best thing...go to them...when there near us. That takes use to Cheese Land. We headed north to Wisconsin on one of the fabulous highways of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority.

The Waukegan Toll Plaza on WB I-94.

Now to Wisconsin!!...State #2!!

Once in the Land of the Cheese we decided to stop for some fine Wisconsin cuisine...

A A&W Resturant along I-94/U.S. Rt. 41 near Racine.
We arrived to Milwaukee before check-in time at our hotel. So we headed into the city to see some of the sites.

Looking at Downtown Milaukee on NB I-794.

The air was crisp and the day was perfect. So what better place to enjoy it than the lakefront of Milwaukee.

A ship on Lake Michigan along the Downtown Milwaukee lake front.

Looking at the Hoan Bridge, Interstate 794.

After the lakefront, we could head to the Hotel. We stayed at a Clarion Suites at WI St Rt 83 & 119 near the General Mitchell International Airport. For dinner we found another A&W in Hales Corners. Un-like the one earlier, this one you sat down and they brought you the food. Now it is game time. Off to Miller Park. Rush hour traffic was a breeze. Through out the game we were able to see Bob Uecker's hair. Our seats were right in front of the broadcast booth. The Cardinal's tore through the night winning the game and putting the Brewers in their place. Traffic leaving the stadium after the game was a breeze.

Day TWO...
