Day TWO...
Sunday, August 5th, 2012

Day two of our voyage had the plans to make it to Albany, New York. Along the way was to have dinner at a resturant see on a Travel Channel eating show. In the overnight hours, another rain storm moved across the Michiana area. This storm provided light off and on showers most of the morning.

Now to State 3!!...Ohio...

The Ohio Welcome Sign on EB I-80/90/Ohio Turnpike at the Indiana/Ohio State Line.

To allow the rain storm to pass breakfast was at a Waffle House in Toledo, OH. This trip was one of the first times we have been to the Metro-Toledo Area since the Interstate 280 river crossing was re-built. After a slight, loop around the city, we headed east toward Cleveland. As we got to Cleveland, again we were back in the storm. So a great trip activity is to do school supply shopping. This was done at a Kmart Supercenter in Cleveland.

Now to State 4!!...Pennsylvania...

The Pennsylvania Welcome Sign on EB I-90, at the Ohio/Pennsylvania State Line.

Now to State 5!!...New York...

The New York Welcome Sign on EB I-90/New York State Thruway at the Pennsylvania/New York State Line.

As we continued east along Interstate 90, there was no stop in the small section of Pennsylvania we crossed. Once on the New York State Thruway, we stopped at a service plaza, near Angola, for Buffalo-Niagra information. At Buffalo, we got on the Niagra Thruway and ran up to Lewistown, New York for dinner at the Silo. On Travel Channel, this resturant was shown with great views of America Junior, a.k.a. Canada. The Silo is an actual old grain silo, with a deck seating area overlooking the Niagra River, and Canada. It has a signature sandwich called, the Haystack. It is a ribeye steak sandwich with shredded hash browns. Very tasty.

We did find the hip, happening hot spot in Buffalo...would have stopped but they serve Pepsi...

The Haystack!

After dinner we still had to make Albany for the end of the night. Our path was the New York State Thruway the entire journey, with exceptions at Rochester, and Syracuse.

Does Santa count as a super hero? Frosty might he had magic in his hat.
