Day TWO...
Thursday, August 2nd, 2018
This day started in the Metro-East of St. Louis at sunrise. The destination for the morning was to see lions, and tigers, and bears...maybe the folks of Oz. Really it was to visit the often rated 2nd place zoo in the United States. The St. Louis Zoo. Yet, before leaving Illinois and heading to Missouri, we stopped off at a road side odditiy.

The Zoo-Loine Railroad.
Once we took a trip around the Zoo Line Railroad it was time to head to Southern Illinois. The nights end point was Benton, Kentucky. In the mean time it was a chance to see places from a past childhood, roadside oddities, and such.

Trees that were great for climbing.

A giant bird and a giant coke.

It would not be a road-trip without finding a KFC with a bucket. Marion, IL.
Now to State #3...Kentucky...

Since the sun was still up and it was three in the afternoon, the exploring of Western Kentucky began. Off of Interstate 24, the voyage headed down U.S. 45 to see the small towns, back country, and some railroad scenes of Western Kentucky. This took us along part of the Trail of Tears and into the path way of two Civil War raids.

Now to State #4!!...Tennessee!!...

Leaving Dukedom, the highway straddles the Kentucky/Tennessee State Line. At the end of this road is Fulton, Kentucky. While there wasn't much to say about Fulton, other than an old caboose from the Illinois Central. The Amtrak station of Fulton, Kentucky...explained how much there was to Fulton the most.

As the sun was still up and there was more territory to cover we moved south to Western Tennessee.
Back to State #4!!...Tennessee!!...

Venturing across the back roads of Northwest Tennessee, the ventures took us past the home of the Skyhawks of the University of Tennessee. Then it was on to the said home of the worlds largest fish fry.

Back to State #3!!..Kentucky!!...

Once back into Kentucky we came across a large dinosaur on a roof and a part of the nations Civil War history.
