Day ONE...
Tuesday, June 25th, 2019
This trip started later in the day than most trips. It was gonna be a quick overnight and a Cardinals game. With the trip still being a quick run to St. Louis and back; with those plans there was no rush to get from one end of the State of Illinois to the next. Even with this path carved back and forth time and again over the years, there are still items along the way that are new to discover. At Springfield, this was the case.

A pink elephant along the road in Springfield.

An interesting business model...Pet Grooming and Army Surplus...

A giant cross...one of the requirements of a road trip checked off...
After a late morning and afternoon in Springfield, it was on to St. Louis.
Now to State #2...Missouri!!...

SB I-55; WB I-64/U.S. 40 at the Illinois/Missouri State Line.
The stop for the afternoon was at the Jefferson Barracks Memorial Park and Jefferson Barracks Cemetery. Part of the park is operated by the St. Louis County Park District, and the other is operated by the federal government. Each were very respectful to those who serve and have served.
