Day FOUR...
Thursday, July 18th, 2019

Today was a day of history. Being in the Greater-Philadelphia Area you have to see where the formation of the experiment in people ran government was born. So the late morning and afternoon was spent in Downtown Philadelphia.

Back to State #5...Pennsylvania...

Downtown Philadelphia is full of local and American history. It is a society with food, history, and culture. Some of the culture can be seen through various forms of art.

A lightning bolt sculpture at the Pennsylvania side of the Ben Franklin Bridge (I-676/U.S. 30).

The first stop on the historical journey was Independence Hall. What was once a prime building in a small city; is not a small figure among tall skyscrapers. Yet the history that took place in these city blocs are not forgotten.

After our visit to and through Independence Hall, it was time to see the Liberty Bell. This is housed across the street from Independence Hall.

Back in the visitors center on Independence Mall there was your standard historical gift shop, actors of the period, and other information. Also there were a few figures that say Philadelphia from the city's vast history.

A replica of the Rocky statue, and tribute the the character from the movies.

The Philly Fanatic.

Ben Franklin.

As the day was wearing on it was time fro dinner. Getting out of Philadelphia in rush hour is a feet in itself. It did provide some time to see the local neighborhoods and sights of Philadelphia.

The real Rocky statue at the art museum.

A KFC with a bucket!

A clothespin sculpture.

A mural in South Philadelphia.

Once onto Interstate 95 we headed south to Delaware for dinner. Along the way to Delaware on I-95...there were some interesting sights...

Looking north at Downtown Philadelphia.

Many of these billboards were up along I-95 saying how much this guy is disliked...

Back to State #6...New Jersey...

A New Jersey welcome sign on NB New Jersey Turnpike.

Taking the New Jersey Turnpike up the state was a nice relaxing way to end the day of hustle and city traffic. At downtown Philly we jumped back to I-95 for the rest of the way north.

On the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River we got to see the sun set as we headed to Princeton, New Jersey.
