Day TWO...
Wednesday, August 4th 2021

This day is a day solely within the Munising, Michigan area. It is spent seeing some of the rural areas near by, and the western parts of the national lake shore. The hotel provided a sad, depressing breakfast, even for pandemic times. This put us at a restaurant in town called the Dog Patch. It was themed after the Little Abner cartoon.

Besides Lake Superior there are many waterfalls in the Munising Area that are a tourist draw. Some requires some hiking...others just need you to look out the window of your motor carriage. For the entire day their were two cruises out onto the lake to sightsee. To kill time before the first cruise, we hit the water falls.

After going and looking at the two waterfalls on the eastside of Munising, the trip took us along Michigan 28 west of Munising and past Christmas...yes Christmas in August!

Back in Munising, it was time to see a few sights in the town before the first cruise. At Munising there are two lighthouses. One in the front and one in the rear. The waterfront along Munising Bay is home to a small park and docks.

The first cruise of the day was out to waters around Grand Island. The ships had a glass bottom and tour took us to see shipwrecks in Lake Superior. It also gave great views along Grand Islands eastside.

Back on land it was time to explore the Pictured Rock National Lakeshore, or atleast the western parts of it. The first stop was out to Miners Castle, then two more waterfalls. One of which, no matter what the sign says..it was and eternity to walk to is, and back. Plus, finding something on a stick for a road trip requirement.

The next cruise was not until the evening. This gave some time for swimming at the hotel, dinner from a pizza place in town...that was not really recommended. Time to wash and gas up the Yukon, and that is about it. Then it was down to the waterfront docks in town for a sunset cruise out along the water east of Munising along Pictured Rock National Lakeshore.
