Day ONE...
Friday, July 25th, 2025

Another trip to a magical place in the United States. For us it is the Upper Peninsula of the Great State of Michigan. To beat traffic through the Chicagoland Area we set off around 5 a.m. and headed north. This took us around the city as the sun was rising and into the State of Wisconsin!. Now to State #2...Wisconsin!!

The Wesconsin Welcome Sign on NB I-41/U.S. 41; WB I-94 at the Wisconsin/Illinois State Line.

When we made it to the Metro-Milwaukee Area it was well after sunrise, but with the fog in the are you would not have known it. Near the airport there was an off the beaten path roadside oddity. A giant can of soup. This was at a Campbell's facility in Milwaukee.

As we headed north we took U.S. 45 from the Milwaukee Area and headed towards Lake Winnebago. Along the way we entered the community of Kewaskum. It was a nice little community and home to the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial. A garden with a piece of the World Trade Center building, and a respectful telling of the events from that day.

Next we made our way along the Kettle Morain Scenic Drive and eventually into Plymouth. Or as they describe it, "The Cheese Capital of Wisconsin". This was a nice community that was proud of their heritage, and their culture.

As we work our way up the eastside of Lake Winnebago it was almost lunch time. What is becoming the stoping point is an A&W in Green Bay. A good place to stretch the legs and get some good quick food. Once that was done it was not for the final leg of the trip to Manistique, Michigan.

Now to State #3...Michigan!!

The Michgian Welcome Sign on NB U.S. Rt. 41.

On the northside of Menominee, the city on the Michgian side of the state line on U.S. 41, is another marker for the 45th Parallel. Although this one is not at the correct place. It also is a bit difficult to see; unless you are really looking for it.

Out of Menominee, to was north and east to Manistique. Once there it was a nice evening to enjoy the beach and nice weather.
