Canadian National
Clinton, IL

A few blocks east of Downtown Clinton, IL is a junction between two single track lines of the Canadian National railroad. Both lines are former Illinois Central Lines. The north-south line was the "charter" line for the Illinois Central. The east-west line was the Springfield Division of the Illinois Central. At one time it was the Gilman, Clinton, & Springfield Railroad that went into receivership and became owned by the Illinois Central. At one time the Illinois Central Havana Line crossed here as well.
