The junction between the CSX and the former Illinois Central main line in La Salle is located on the east side of La Salle. The CSX rail line passes under the Illinois River Bridge that was part of the former Illinois Central main line. North of the river bridge is the former Illinois Central-La Salle yard. At the La Salle yard a spur runs off to the southwest to join with the CSX railroad. Accounts have the Illinois Central line ending service in 1985-86. Today the Illinois River bridge and parts of the La Salle Yard are operated by Buzzi Unicem. This gives the company connection from the south side of the Illinois River to the CSX line.
