Southwest of where Western Ave crosses the Cal-Sag Channel is a major junction of the Metra-Rock Island Line and the CSX railroad. The CSX lines run at ground level, with eight rail lines coming into the junction from the north. Metra's lines run on bridges above the CSX tracks.
