North of Downtown Kankakee the Canadian National railroad crossed the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The Norfolk Southern runs east-west at this junction. Canadian National goes north-south. This junction is just south of the Canadian National yard at Kankakee. The Canadian National line is former Illinois Central rail lines, currently it sits under the subsidiary Grand Trunk.
