BNSF-Union Pacific
Pequot (Coal City), IL

On the northeastside of Coal City sits a rail junction that as of 2008 was being dismantled. Known from the golden age of the coal industry at "Pequot". The junction was on the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe Railroad (now BNSF Railway) main line and a connection with a spur track running from a Union Pacific main line near Braceville, to Coal City. The Union Pacific used track rights with the BNSF from Pequot to rejoin the main line at Joliet.
