The Village of Farmer City is located on Interstate 74, U.S. 150, and Illinois 54. Farmer City has about 2,055 residents (2000 census). This is the location of the high school for the Blue Ridge school district. The town was originally named Mount Pleseant, until 1869. Railroads played a big part in the growth of this town. The first railroads in Farmer City were the Indiana, Bloomington, & Western Railroad and Gilman, Clinton, Springfield Railroad. Today only the Norfolk Southern Railroad remain.
