The Village of Tolono is located south of the Champaign-Urbana Metro Area along U.S. 45, CSX railroad, and the Canadian National Railroad. Tolono was founded in the early 1800's and was home to many employees of the Illinois Central railroad. The Illinois Central line, is now the Canadian National, which runs north-south. Midwest pizza resturant, Monical's Pizza, opened it's first resturant in Tolono in 1959. Tolono was the last stop for Abraham Lincoln in Illinois as he headed off to Washington D.C.
