The City of Jefferson City is located along U.S. 50, U.S. 54, U.S. 63, BUSN U.S. 50, Missouri State Route 179, Amtrak, Union Pacific Railroad, and the Missouri River. This is the Missouri state capitol. It was named after the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson. In 1821, the site of Jefferson City was choosen as the capitol. It was forst called Lohman's Landing. The Missouri legislature first met here in 1826. Jefferson City was incorporated in 1839.
