Vince Demuzio Expressway

The Vince Demuzio Expressway is a portion of Interstate 55 fromthe 6th Street Interchange, at Springfield, to the Carlinville exit, Illinois State Route 108. An Executive Order was made by Governor Rod Blagojevich on April 23, 2004. Vince Demuzio was elected to the senate in 1974. He has been a champion for building an effective transportation infrastructure. Senator Demuzio was a advocate in the completion of U.S. Rt. 36 from Jacksonville to Quincy (Central Illinois Expressway), the improvements of U.S. Rt. 67 from Alton to Jacksonville, and the widening of Illinois State Route 29 from Rochester to Taylorville.
