U.S. Federal Route 30 cuts across Will County from the northwest corner of the county across to the eastern side. This is a highly used route through the area. U.S. Rt. 30 passes through the following towns in Will County. Plainfield
Prior to March, 2008, U.S. Rt. 30 was multi-plexed with IL St Rt 126 in Plainfield. As car and truck traffic increased traffic delays increased. For several years U.S. Rt. 30 had a truck route in place diverting trucks along IL St Rt 126 from the Du Page River to IL St Rt 59. So in March, 2008, U.S. Rt. 30 was pulled from Downtown Plainfield and routed further along IL St Rt 59 to 143rd Street. Below are pictures from the days when U.S. Rt. 30 and IL St Rt 126 shared a highway.
