U.S. Federal Route 52 enters Will County from Kendall County running east-west. Then in Joliet, it head south to Kankakee County.
The Village of Manhattan reviewed its future traffic plans as the village grows. This lead to the suggestion that when U.S. Rt. 52 needs to be widened four-lanes it will more than likely by-pass the town. The plan called for the highway to be routed along Gougar Road. The current route could become Business U.S. Rt. 52.*U.S. Rt. 52 passes throught the following towns. Shorewood
