The City of Joliet is one of the fastest growing cities in the Chicago Metropolitain Area. It is one of the widest towns in the state of Illinois. Joliet spans across Will County and in recent years has entered Kendall County as Joliet's westside expands. Joliet was settled in 1834. It is located on Interstate 55, Interstate 80, U.S. 6, U.S. 30, U.S. 52, Historical U.S. 66, Illinois 7, Illinois 53, the Des Plaines River, I&M Canal, BNSF Railway, CSX Railroad, Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railroad, Iowa Interstate, and Union Pacific Railroad. Downtown Joliet has several attractions including the Railto Square Theater, Silver Cross Field (Home of the Joliet Slammers), and Harris Casino. All bridges across the Des Plaines River at Downtown Joliet are draw bridges. Joliet is served by two Metra Commuter rail lines and has several Amtrak stops each day. It is the county seat for Will County. It is home to several I&M Canal-Heritage Corridor and Historical U.S. 66 tourist attractions. The famed Lincoln Highways also passes through Joliet.

Rockdale is a small town surronded by Joliet south of Interstate 80. It has less than 2000 residents (2000 census).

Info on Crest Hill:

Crest Hill was incorporated in 1960 to avoid being annexed by Joliet. A good portion of the cities population is made up by the inmates at Statesville Prison on Crest Hill's northside.

Info on Shorewood:

Shorewood is located on Joliet's westside. It is centered along U.S. 52, Illinois 59, and Du Page River. This is mostly in Troy Township.
