It rests along the Union Pacific railroad, and is served by Metra's Union Pacific West Line. Lombard was originally known Babcock's Grove. It was connected to Chicago by a Stage Coach line in 1837. In 1848 the Galena and Chicago railroad arrived. The town was incorporated at Lombard in 1869. Since 1930, Lombard has hosted a Lilac Festival in mid-May. |
