The City of Lomabrd is located on the northeast side of the Interstate 88/Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway and Interstate 355/Veterans Memorial Tollway junction. It rests along the Union Pacific railroad, and is served by Metra's Union Pacific West Line. Lombard was originally known Babcock's Grove. It was connected to Chicago by a Stage Coach line in 1837. In 1848 the Galena and Chicago railroad arrived. The town was incorporated at Lombard in 1869. Since 1930, Lombard has hosted a Lilac Festival in mid-May.
