Interstate 270 runs north-south in Central Maryland. It goes from Interstate 495, near Bethesda, to Interstate 70, at Frederick. Portions of the interstate near the Metro-Washington D.C. area have local and express lanes. This gives the highway upto twleve lanes of traffic. Near the junction with I-495, I-270 has a short spur that provedis another junction with I-495.
