Illinois State Route 4 is hte main north-south surface road in Central and South-Central Sangamon County. This connects many small towns and cities on Springfield's southside to each ohter. In Springfield, IL St Rt 4 is know at Veterans Parkway. This provides access to many shopping centers on the rapidly building westside of town. IL St Rt 4 use to end at IL St Rt 29 near Capital Airport on the northside of Springfield, but recently it was extended to BUSN. Loop I-55 (Peoria Road) near the state fairground.
