Northeast Extention

The Pennyslvania Turnpike-Northeast Extention runs north-south in Eastern Pennsylvania. It runs from the Metro-Philadelphia north to Scranton. This highway dates back to the 1950's. It wasn't until 1996 that it recieved the Interstate 476 designation. Prior to this it was designated as Pennsylvania State Route 9. Like the main-line, the Northeast Extention uses electronic tolling or pay by mail tolling. There is one tunnel, the Leigh Tunnel, along the Northeast Extention. The Northeast Extention runs just over 132 miles.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike-Northeast Extention passes through the following metro area.
