The City of Columbia is located along Interstate 70, BUSN Loop I-70, U.S. 40, U.S. 63, Missouri 163, Missouri 740, Missouri 763, Missouri Secondary B, Missouri Secondary E, Missouri Secondary AC, Missouri Secondary PP, Missouri Secondary TT, Missouri Secondary WW, Missouri Secondary ZZ, and the Columbia Terminal Railroad. It is home to aprox. 100,733 residents (2008 census). This is the fifth largest city in the State of Missouri. Columbia is the county seat for Boone County. This is also home to the University of Missouri-Columbia. It was originally known as Smithton, and settled around 1818. In 1821 it was re-named Columbia. U of M was founded in 1839.
